This aircraft flew only two
sorties. On its second, an attack on the coastal defenses at Boulogne as
part of the practice invasion of France (Operation STARKEY), the aircraft
received extensive battle damage from Flak over the target. Pilot 1st Lt.
Thomas Alford nursed his stricken aircraft back to Station 162 but was
forced to make a crash landing. The aircraft was salvaged for parts. Two
of the crew were wounded:
